Countdown To Your Wedding

Your Wedding Countdown 
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

  • Visit and book the Marriage Celebrant, Clergyman or Registry Office to secure your ceremony booking.
    Know the date, time, and venue for the ceremony
    Lodge Notice of Intending Marriage (the time frame for lodgement of the NOIM is a minimum of one clear calendar month and a maximum of 18 months)
  • Determine the number of guests you can accommodate.
  • Plan reception and make venue booking or arrange marquee hire and catering arrangements.
  • Book your church or park area.
  • Make transport arrangements.
  • Book the photographer and videographer.
  • Arrange music for the church.
  • Book Poole’s of Music for your reception/ceremony music
  • You and your fiancé should make up guest lists.
  • Make your honeymoon reservations.
  • If your honeymoon is overseas. obtain passports etc.
  • Arrange flowers with the florist.
  • Arrange reception decorator.
  • Choose and order your wedding cake.
  • Select your wedding rings.
  • Make hairdressing and makeup appointments.
  • Order brides and bridesmaids dresses.
  • Order your wedding invitations.
  • Compile gift register
  • Send Save the Date cards to “out-of-town“ friends and relatives so they have time to apply for leave and make travel plans.


    3 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Mothers should choose their outfits.
  • Visit your doctor to discuss family planning and vaccinations required if having an overseas honeymoon.
  • Visit your dentist.
  • Pick up your wedding stationery from the printer.


    2 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Arrange church rehearsals.
  • Check on wedding rings.
  • Send out wedding invitations.
  • Arrange accommodation for out of town guests.
  • Bride - choose gift for groom and attendants.
  • Groom - choose gift for bride, bestman and groomsmen.
  • Groom and attendants should have suits hired.


    6 WEEKS BEFORE

  • Check the caterer if the reception is at home.
  • Check suppliers of cutlery, crockery, chairs etc. etc.
  • Order wines, spirits and soft drinks.
  • Check with the florist.
  • Complete trousseau and plan honeymoon clothes.
  • Check honeymoon luggage requirements.


    4 WEEKS BEFORE

  • Insure wedding gifts.
  • Plan bridal showers, hen nights and bucks parties.
  • Confirm arrangements with your wedding celebrant, minister or priest.
  • Have your hair styled using your bridal hair piece.
  • Have a test run with your makeup artist.
  • Final fitting of your wedding dress and also bridesmaids outfits.
  • Have a top-to-toe beauty treatment.
  • Start to write thank you notes for gifts as they arrive.


    2 WEEKS BEFORE

  • Make an appointment to visit your Celebrant (civil, religious or registry office) to finalise your ceremony and to sign the mandatory “Declarations”
  • Make an appointment to visit Poole’s of Music to discuss your music requirements, DJ placement etc
  • Ensure that the wedding party is familiar with all plans, procedures and duties expected of them.
  • Arrange press announcements.
  • Have all clothing ready to pack.
  • Confirm numbers, menus etc with caterers.
  • Confirm wedding day appointments with hairdresser & makeup artist
  • Arrange seating plans for reception, write place cards
  • Arrange appointment for your bridal bouquet to be preserved after your wedding

    1 WEEK BEFORE

  • Finalise details with the church, reception venue, photographer, florist, transport etc. etc.
  • Pack for your honeymoon.
  • Have a wedding rehearsal.
  • Check that you and all guests have transport to and from the church and the reception.
  • Make up an emergency kit for the day that your mother can carry with her.
  • Make sure your travel documents are all in order and that you have your traveller’s cheques for your trip.

    ON THE DAY

  • Try to keep to time.
  • Don’t forget the wedding rings
